About Tales From Tumble InnTales From Tumble Inn” is a collection of stories originally told to my grandchildren, William, Elise, and Jenny Tyler. I would like to thank them for their role in the creation of this book by inspiring me to entertain them with stories from the “good old days.”
This book is a tribute to my grandmother Tate, who was a loving influence on me when I was a child and serves as the model for Miz Josie. My grandparents owned and operated several small hotels and, thanks to them, I observed many interesting travelers and enjoyed a childhood rich in memories. Many aunts and uncles also found their way into the stories. A very special thank you goes to my son, Bill, who created the woodcut illustrations for the text and organized the material for publication. I deeply appreciate his dedication to this project. I would like to thank Connie Lord for her early work editing my words. “Tales From Tumble Inn” was many years in the making. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me along the way. Margie Tyler 2012 One snowy Tennessee Christmas, with some rare extra time, my elder brother, Dan, counseled me, ‘To make the time count.’ So when I told my brother Bob, ‘I’m going to illustrate Tumble Inn for Mom’, he paused and thoughtfully said, ‘It couldn’t fall into better hands.’ And so I did.
